Projection
The next mapping prototype expanded upon the idea of the landmarks, but rather than using AR to create invisible landmarks, the next mapping exercise explored creating a mapping prototype as a physical landmark upon which the image data was projected. I constructed the base mapping prototype, its form inspired by the notion of shifting perspectives and different points of view. The data would flicker across the surface of these Projection mapping prototypes showing the different perspectives of the neighbourhood. These mapping prototypes captured a changing sense of place, but they lacked interaction between the map and map reader. However, when placed in situ, they transformed into physical landmarks, allowing the map reader to walk around and interact with it. This inspired the next mapping exercise, which aimed to take the prototype further by embedding it into the landscape as a visible, tangible landmark, allowing it to become an integral part of place itself.
