Streetscapes

I started with the base map of Fitzroy North and Scotchmer Street, highlighting the most photographed and tagged places from the data collection. I took these iconic landmarks and printed them on transparent acrylic sheets to reconstruct a miniature streetscape as a mapping exercise. The nature of the clear acrylic material allowed for transparency and depth between the building structures, helping to create different points of view. The transparent acrylic also enabled the mapping prototype to be photographed in daylight or simulated nighttime to see the effects of light, shadows and perspective through the transparent buildings and layered streetscapes.
