Transient Journey

This emotion map, Transient Journey, follows the respondent’s route through the park in a parallel journey with their coloured emotions as indicated on the base map, showing the differing emotions experienced by the respondent. The white line represents the walk while the coloured shapes portray the remembered emotions associated with particular zones within the park. Starting with a black base map of the park, the animation draws the white line of the respondent’s route as the journey progresses through the park following the coloured emotions, it then erases the path travelled, disappearing altogether once the walk is complete. This visual strategy mirrors the fluid and impermanent nature of emotional experience, like a stream of consciousness.
